Frequent Asked Question

Why charter a yacht with MCH Yachts?
Chartering a yacht offers numerous advantages. It grants you the freedom to explore various destinations at your own pace, experiencing the beauty of both land and sea in a relatively short time. All charters booked through MCH Yachts are customized to meet each client's specific desires, with the crew delivering exceptional service throughout your journey. Once you've selected a destination, we'll work with you and the Captain to design the perfect cruising itinerary. Your privacy on board is always assured, and the Captain can select secluded anchorages and beaches for your enjoyment.
What does the charter rate include?
The Charter fee includes the crew, their meals and uniforms, all onboard equipment, consumables and cleaning materials for the yacht, yacht insurance, linen and towels, and crew wages. The VAT and the APA will not be included in the charter fee. VAT will depend on the destination.
What is the APA?
The APA (Advanced Provisioning Allowance) is a payment made to provision the yacht with food, drinks, fuel, and other necessities before you board. Typically, the APA is between 30-40% of the Charter Fee. The Captain will monitor the expenses throughout the charter and provide you with a final account summary at the end. You can review your accounts with the Captain at any time during the charter. If there is a surplus, the remaining amount will be refunded to an account of your choice. If there is a deficit, payment must be arranged before disembarkation.
What is the payment policy?
In order to confirm your reservation, payment will be requested. For single-day bookings confirmed more than 7 days in advance, a deposit of 50% is required to confirm the booking and hold the yacht. The remaining balance will be due 7 days before your embarkation date. For single-day charters booked 7 days or less in advance, full payment is required to confirm your booking. For multi-day or week-long charters confirmed more than 30 days in advance, a deposit of 50% of the charter fee is required immediately to secure your reservation. The remaining 50% of the charter fee, plus APA & VAT and any additional expenses, will be due 30 days before your embarkation date. Refund terms are governed by the Charter Agreement. Generally, payments are non-refundable once collected. However, in certain circumstances specified in the Charter Agreement, credits may be provided to reschedule your yacht charter for a future date when convenient for you and the yacht is available.
Is it customary to give a tip to the crew?
Yes, it is customary to give a tip for a yacht charter in Europe. Typically, a gratuity of 10-15% of the charter fee is appreciated, depending on the level of service provided by the crew. This amount is usually given at the end of the charter and is distributed among the crew members. Tipping is a way to acknowledge the crew's hard work and dedication in making your yachting experience enjoyable. For U.S gratuity will be of 15%-20% the charter fee.
How can I inform the crew of my preferences?
Your yacht’s chef will tailor your menus to your preferences. Before your yacht charter, we will ask you to complete a Preference Sheet to specify your culinary tastes, dietary requirements, preferred beverages, newspapers, flowers, or any other special requests. You can also provide details on medical issues, allergies, and special occasions. We encourage you to share as much information as possible to ensure the crew has a comprehensive understanding of your needs before you step on board.
Can I bring food and drinks onboard?
You are welcome to bring your own provisions onboard the yacht. Please inform us in advance so we can make the necessary arrangements to accommodate your items. Our crew will be happy to assist with storing and organising your provisions to ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience.
